Grand Living Reporting For Christmas Duty

Grand Living Realty Sends Military Troops Holiday Gifts for 5th Year in a Row

Grand Living Realty organized another highly successful Holiday Troops Drive to send gifts to military troops in Afghanistan for the fifth year in a row.

“This project was started five years ago when Flagler Beach resident Doug Beaven was stationed in Afghanistan and realized that many of the soldiers did not receive anything for Christmas,” said Grand Living Realty CEO/Broker Lindsay Dolamore. “He emailed Patsy Moden, a real estate agent in our office, and she has coordinated the project with the Grand Haven Women’s Club and the Grand Haven community ever since.”

The drive has sent 25-30 boxes of goodies each year since 2011. Grand Living Realty and Moden work with their team and volunteers to organize the drive and the brokerage pays for all of the shipping costs, which can be substantial. In 2013, the troops receiving gifts flew an American flag at their base to honor the brokerage, and sent the flag on to Grand Living Realty to display it locally.

“We take great pride and pleasure in ensuring that some of those men and women receive an extra surprise of holiday cheer and our thanks for their service.”
