Bob and Amy Aiken set out on a path to trade Pittsburgh and cold winters for a new lifestyle in Florida. Like many others who move from up north, they vacationed in the area, fell in love with Palm Coast and purchased a second home in Grand Haven. After several years of splitting time between Pittsburgh and Palm Coast, they decided to make it permanent and began thinking about where to make their perfect final home in Florida.
They had built that “second home” in Village Oaks in 2004. According to both, they liked the house and the many new friends they had made. But Bob wanted something larger with a three car garage and Amy wanted a pool. They considered a variety of Palm Coast communities but were drawn back to the people and club at Grand Haven. Bob is an avid golfer so the community’s signature Nicklaus course was a big factor in their decision to stay at Grand Haven. Amy loved the people and all the activities in the community and was driven to fulfill her dream of having a larger Florida pool home.
“I watched the progress as they developed Wild Oaks Estates but had never really explored it much,” said Bob. “Then Amy said she had found the perfect house for us there and I was quickly sold on the idea after the first visit.”
“As we got serious I wanted Karen Kull at Grand Haven Realty as our ally in selling our home and buying a new one,” said Amy. “We had heard good things from neighbors who worked with Karen and the folks at Grand Haven Realty, and in our case she helped make it a great experience. She really knows the community as both a Grand Haven resident and Realtor.”
According to Kull, it’s pretty common to see residents “right sizing” between homes at Grand Haven. I have been living and selling here for years and over that time have assisted many residents moving between homes and villages,” Kull says. “The beauty of a master planned community like this is the variety and options of neighborhoods and homes that are available. The plan, amenities and lifestyle also attract lots of potential new buyers which helps current residents make these internal moves.”
“We really enjoy it here in Palm Coast and Grand Haven,” Bob said. “We love the new neighborhood eagle’s nest next door in the park and often see turkeys and deer in the back yard. Our house in Wild Oaks is like our own personal resort.”
Amy shares the sentiment. “We are so happy down here. And to top it off, last year my brother also moved to Palm Coast. We have had nothing but good times and look forward to many more great experiences in the future.”
